Piotr Alexewicz is one of the most recognizable Polish pianists of his generation. He won the
fifth prize, the Audience Award, and several special prizes at the 19th International Fryderyk
Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.
In 2025, he won the second prize at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition in the
United States, further consolidating his position on the international piano scene. In the
same year, he was a semifinalist at the 17th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in
Fort Worth.
He received the Professor Zbigniew Drzewiecki Award at the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin
Piano Competition in Warsaw and twice won the 48th and 50th National Chopin Piano Competitions
organized by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. He has also won top prizes at piano competitions in
Paris and Bucharest.
In 2024, he won the concerto competition at the PianoTexas International Festival & Academy,
performing Johannes Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 15, with the Fort Worth
Symphony Orchestra under Miguel Harth-Bedoya. That same year, he became one of three laureates
of the prestigious Schenk Competition in Switzerland and, for the first time in the
competition's history, received every special prize, including the Audience Award and the
Orchestra Award.
His extensive discography includes a debut album released by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in
2019, featuring works by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Ravel. With Sinfonia Varsovia under Howard
Shelley, he recorded all of Chopin's works for piano and orchestra other than the concertos.
Three albums containing all of his solo performances at the 17th Van Cliburn International
Piano Competition in Fort Worth were released in 2025.
He has appeared at prestigious international festivals, including Chopin and His Europe in
Warsaw, the International Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój, the Chopin Festival in Nohant,
Festival Chopin do Brasil, PianoTexas, the Arthur Rubinstein Festival in Łódź, the Chopin
Festival in Connecticut, the Kawai Piano Series, the Gdańsk Music Festival, and recitals in
Żelazowa Wola.
He has performed at renowned venues including the Berlin Philharmonie, Salle Cortot in Paris,
the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, the Warsaw Philharmonic, Adam Mickiewicz University
Hall in Poznań, Teatro Nacional in Brasília, Sala São Paulo, Van Cliburn Concert Hall, Ed
Landreth Auditorium, and Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, the Woodruff Arts Center in
Atlanta, Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara, ACROS Fukuoka Concert Hall, Symphony Hall in Osaka, Tokyo
Metropolitan Theatre, Musashino Bunka Kaikan, and Seoul Arts Center.
He has worked with distinguished conductors including Marek Pijarowski, Carlos Miguel Prieto,
Andrey Boreyko, Manuel Hernández-Silva, Ariel Zuckermann, Benjamin Schwartz, Przemysław Neumann,
Hansjörg Schellenberger, Marc Kissoczy, Daniel Stabrawa, Thomas Koncz, Rune Bergmann, Adam
Banaszak, Nicolae Moldoveanu, Howard Shelley, Ruben Silva, Jakub Chrenowicz, Norton Morozowicz,
and Tatsuya Shimono.
In recognition of his artistic achievements, First Lady of Poland Agata Kornhauser-Duda named
him a Young Promoter of Poland in 2021 for his outstanding contribution to promoting Polish
culture. That same year, he received the Wrocław Artistic Award. He also received the Lower
Silesian Key to Success in 2025 and was named one of Wrocław's 30 Creative People in 2026.
He maintains an active international concert schedule, performing in Poland, Switzerland,
Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Romania, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada,
Brazil, Japan, South Korea, Morocco, and many other countries. Since 2024, he has taught a piano
class at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.
Piotr Alexewicz began his music studies with Paweł Zawadzki at the Karol Lipiński Academy of
Music in Wrocław and now continues them with Konstantin Scherbakov at Zurich University of the
Arts. He has also studied with Nikolai Demidenko.
